Call For Presentations

We invite you to submit a presentation proposal for the 2025 NHRMA Annual Conference & Tradeshow.

 

NHRMA is seeking proposals that will:

  • Engage each participant in dialogue about contemporary human resource issues facing our business communities.

  • Cover topics that are relevant to the variety of experience levels of the HR professionals who will be attending the conference.

  • Provide attendees with takeaways and actionable steps to accelerate their understanding and applicability of the topic. 

 

The NHRMA Conference is designed to cater to a diverse audience, aiming to attract HR employees and leaders seeking valuable insights, recertification credits, and more! NHRMA encourages speakers to propose sessions aligning with the described tracks, ensuring content is relevant to HR professionals in Alaska, Washington, and Oregon.

 

The emphasis lies not only on the specific topic but also on the presentation style and the key takeaways that attendees can deploy upon leaving the NHRMA conference. The objective is to foster meaningful interaction among participants and deliver a comprehensive, highly rewarding experience that maximizes the value for all attendees.

 

If you have a topic that you believe fits with these goals, have proven expertise, and public speaking ability, we encourage you to submit your proposal.

 

All conference presenters will receive registration to the conference free of charge. Speaking at this conference is voluntary and unpaid. 

 

 

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION

Proposals must be submitted no later than Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:59 pm PT.

 

PROPOSAL STATUS NOTIFICATION 

You will be notified of the status of your proposal no later than March 21, 2025. Please hold the conference dates of September 24-26, 2025 available until notified of your proposal status.

 

PREPARING TO SUBMIT

Please read through these instructions thoroughly for a full understanding of the process before submitting your proposal. The NHRMA Conference Committee will be reviewing many proposals, so understand that we will not be able to consider proposals submitted with incomplete information.

 

PROPOSAL CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
  • Presenter contact information

  • Brief speaker biography

  • Presentation title

  • Presentation summary/workshop description (no more than 100 words)

  • Three to five learning objectives

  • Proof of performance

  • HRCI/SHRM number, if your program has been pre-approved for credits in the past

 

TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL
  • Complete the online submission form and provide the required information. If your presentation is selected, the information provided on the form will be used in conference publications, including, but not limited to, brochures and the conference website. The NHRMA 2025 Conference Committee reserves the right to edit your presentation title, presentation description, and/or your biographical sketch as necessary, taking care not to alter the intended meaning.

  • Submissions with multiple presenters must be submitted as a single proposal. All proposed presenters must agree to the terms and conditions of the Call for Presentations.

  • Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

 

2025 WORKSHOP PRESENTATION FORMATS
  • Pre-conference sessions (Wednesday morning, 3 hours) - Longer format presentation to provide the opportunity for a deeper dive and more in-depth engagement on a critical or emerging topic/trend in Human Resource Management.

  • Concurrent breakout sessions (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; 1 hour) - Presenters share information, resources, and success stories, engage in an interactive dialogue, invite questions, and facilitate idea exchange with audience members.

  • Executive Forum (Thursday, 1 hour) - The Executive Forum will feature 20-minute micro-sessions focused on topics related to the future of work, followed by peer-to-peer conversations, roundtable discussions, and exceptional networking. These sessions will be limited to executive and senior-level HR professionals.

2025 SESSION TRACKS

When submitting your materials, you’ll be asked to indicate the behavioral competencies and/or HR knowledge areas that are relevant to your proposed presentation. A summary of these competencies and knowledge domains are below. For additional information, refer to the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge. You will also be asked to indicate the target audience level for your session.

 

Behavioral Competencies

  • Leadership – This cluster includes Leadership & Navigation; Ethical Practice; and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Key components of these behavioral competencies include: setting an implementing a vision and direction for the HR function; managing or leading organizational initiatives; influencing and supporting other organizational members and leaders; driving an ethical organizational environment; behaving in an ethical manner that promotes high standards of integrity and the organization’s values; cultivating and supporting a diverse and inclusive culture that supports organizational performance; and ensuring equity effectiveness.

  • Interpersonal – This cluster includes Relationship Management, Communication and Global Mindset. Key components of these behavioral competencies include: networking; building and maintaining professional relationships and teams; successfully managing conflict and negotiations; clearly and effectively communicating with stakeholders; operating within a global workforce; and advocating for a culturally diverse and inclusive workplace.

  • Business – This cluster includes Business Acumen, Consultation and Analytical Aptitude. Key components of these behavioral competencies include: ensuring that HR contributes to the strategic direction of the organization; understanding the business and the environment in which it operates; designing and implementing business solutions to meet human capital needs; contributing to and leading change management initiatives; and gathering and analyzing data to inform business decisions.

 

HR Knowledge Domains

  • People – This domain is about HR knowledge relating to people To perform their job functions effectively, HR professionals need to know how to: create and set the strategic direction of the HR function; acquire and develop the talent necessary to pursue organizational goals; maintain a satisfied and engaged workforce while minimizing unwanted turnover; and develop a total rewards program that maximizes the effectiveness of the organization’s compensation and benefits. The functional areas in this domain include:

    • HR Strategy

    • Talent Acquisition

    • Employee Engagement & Retention

    • Learning and Development

    • Total Rewards

  • Organization – This domain is about HR knowledge relating to the organization. To carry out their job responsibilities effectively, HR professionals need to know how to: create an effective HR function that is fully aligned to organizational strategy; enhance the effectiveness of the organization at large; ensure tha the organization’s talent pool has the skills and capabilities to achieve organizational goals; promote positive relationships with employees; and leverage technology to improve HR functioning. The functional areas in this domain include:

    • Structure of the HR Function

    • Organizational Effectiveness & Development

    • Workforce Management

    • Employee & Labor Relations

    • Technology Management

  • Workplace – This domain is about HR knowledge related to the workplace and the external environment. To be successful at their jobs, HR professionals need to know how to: manage a global workforce to achieve organizational objectives; manage organizational risks and threats to the safety and security of employees; contribute to the well-being and betterment of the community; and comply with applicable laws and regulations. The functional areas include in this domain are:

    • Managing a Global Workforce

    • Risk Management

    • Corporate Social Responsibility

    • Employment Law & Regulations

 

Target Audience

  • Entry-level HR professional (e.g., HR coordinator, HR assistant)

  • Mid-level HR professional (e.g., supervisor, manager, generalist/specialist)

  • Senior-level HR professional (e.g., director, vice president)

  • Executive-level HR professional (e.g., CHRO, CPO, executive director)

 

PROOF OF PERFORMANCE

NHRMA seeks experienced presenters with proven speaking ability – those who are engaging while maintaining command of their audience and who can provide proof of performance. Any one of the following formats below would be acceptable. Please note that NHRMA will not be able to return any of the proof of performance provided.

  • Local SHRM chapter referrals or references – please provide names and contact information of an individual associated with a SHRM chapter who has attended or can vouch for your presentation content and style.

  • Evaluation summaries that show your quality ratings and scores from previous speaking engagements. Please include the number of attendees present and your topic, and explain the ratings received.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Videos of yourself presenting a workshop. Promotional videos about your organization highlighting products and services or interviews on a television show are not acceptable proof of performance.

 

SUBMITTER/PRESENTER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Meet all deadlines.

  • In developing your presentation:

    • Include at least one two-person or small group exercise that can be facilitated in a theater-seating environment (no tables) to encourage attendee interaction as a way to further illustrate your message and as another form of conference networking.

    • If possible, include “Next Steps” or recommended actions for attendees to encourage practical application after the workshop.

    • Honor NHRMA’s commitment to providing meaningful, applicable education by not promoting the presenter’s practice, services, or products. Your business logo may only appear in the footer of your presentation or on handouts. We encourage you to include your contact information on a closing slide so that attendees may contact you should they desire to do so.

  • If your presentation is accepted:

    • Provide your presentation in electronic format to NHRMA no later than the deadline provided upon confirmation of selection. The format should be in widescreen Microsoft PowerPoint. You must present the workshop content as you describe it in your submission.

    • Understand the audiovisual equipment that’s provided and make additional equipment requests on or before the deadline provided. Last-minute requests may not be possible to accommodate.

    • Do not add a co-presenter or change the identity or number of presenters without approval.

    • Allow NHRMA to copy your presentation materials to the conference website, to a conference USB drive, if sponsored, or to any other electronic source for distribution.

  • In your session:

    • Announce that your presentation can be downloaded from the conference website.

    • Respect NHRMA as the sponsoring organization and potential workshop sponsors with either positive or neutral comments during your presentation.

  • Submit your proposal by Friday, February 21, 2025, 11:59 pm PT. Please keep the Conference dates (September 24-26, 2025) available until notified of submission status.
